• Born in Ireland (1947)

• Educated as a tradesman

• Emigrated to Canada (1967)

• Became a Canadian citizen (1975)

• Has been in Nelson for 35 years

• Married to wife Pat for 34 years

• Has 3 children: Erin (Peter), Shelagh and Sean, and grandfather to 2 grandchildren.

• Self-employed since 1975

• Hobbies: Golf, skiing, fishing, travling, hunting, hiking and the outdoors

John is an initiator: Kootenay Avalanche hockey, Side Kicks Soccer School, Nelson entry into Communities in Bloom, Coordinator,canadian Cancer Relay for Life (Nelson).

John is a long time community volunteer.
